Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a partner?Wilmington Ballroom offers dance lessons for both singles and couples, so you do not need a partner to take lessons or participate in activities!
What dances do you teach?Wilmington Ballroom teaches all partner dances, including both American and International styles of ballroom and Latin dance. This includes Waltz, Tango, Cha-Cha, Quickstep, Salsa, Rumba, Jive, Foxtrot, Swing, and many more! We teach both social and competitive dances, so we can design a program to fit each student’s unique goals. We also offer packages for wedding and special occasion dances.
What do I wear to lessons? You can wear anything that makes you comfortable! Most students opt for business casual, but if you’re more comfortable in athletic gear, that’s fine, too! Just make sure your clothes do not restrict your movement.
What kind of shoes should I wear?Of course, ballroom dance shoes are ideal for lessons. However, for your first few lessons feel free to wear any shoes in which you are comfortable. Avoid flip-flops and slides, as they often slip off while dancing. Once you decide to leap into dancing, your instructor can help you select the perfect pair of ballroom shoes!
What is the age range of your students?Wilmington Ballroom teaches students from all walks of life! Our students include everyone from children to people well into their 80s. At Wilmington Ballroom, everyone is welcome and we believe that everyone can learn to dance, regardless of age!
How much do lessons cost?Packages vary based on your specific desires and needs. The diverse nature of the programs offered by Wilmington Ballroom allows students to work with their instructor to design a dance program that suits their needs, goals, and budget, so that dancing is affordable for everyone. Alex was my first ballroom dance instructor when I started taking lessons in January 2009. We went to a couple of competitions, where we consistently placed first in our category and had fun doing it! Alex is not only a very talented instructor, but he is also an all-around great person. |
